Things to Remember Before Traveling to Egypt

1. Apply for Your Egypt Visa in Advance:  Indian travelers need a visa to enter Egypt. The process is usually straightforward, but it’s best to start it at least 3–4 weeks before departure. Make sure your passport has at least six months’ validity from your return date.

2.Currency & Payments: The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). It’s a good idea to carry some local cash for small purchases, tips, and taxis. Major hotels and restaurants accept international cards, but smaller shops often prefer cash. Always inform your bank before using your card abroad.

3.Dress Respectfully:  Egypt is a culturally conservative country. Modest clothing is recommended, especially when visiting mosques or rural areas. Lightweight cotton wear is best for the hot climate, and a scarf can come in handy for women at religious sites.

4.Stay Hydrated & Sun-Protected:  The Egyptian sun can be intense, especially around Luxor and Aswan. Carry a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and always keep a bottle of water with you while sightseeing.

5. Respect Local Customs:  Egyptians are warm and friendly, but public displays of affection are discouraged. When greeting, a polite smile or a handshake is sufficient. During Ramadan, avoid eating or drinking in public during daylight hours out of respect.

6.Health & Safety: Stick to bottled water for drinking and try to avoid raw or uncooked street food, especially if you have a sensitive stomach. Carry basic medicines for minor ailments and stay hydrated during sightseeing.
